This Rural retreat had been owned by our clients for several years before Interior Matters were approached to take on this extensive renovation project in 2016/17. Used as a weekend hideaway for a busy London based couple, we were asked to bring their rather tired and dated traditional flint and brick cottage up to date with modern features yet enhancing the period charm, managing both the design and build.
Flint blocks were inserted into the previously extended rear elevations to tie in better with the original flint front, floors throughout were levelled and replaced with wide oak boards, a new oak staircase was designed in the sitting room which now stands as a focal point in the room. This sharp contemporary detail can be followed throughout in the newly fitted bathrooms, furniture and fixtures & fittings. The Cast Iron radiators are a nod to the past yet stand proudly in their contemporary setting.
